Mika Godts gets nickname at Paris Saint-Germain after debut
Mika Godts made his first start for Paris Saint-Germain against Le Mans, but his performance was described by the French media as ‘utterly disappointing’, giving the Belgian a painful nickname.
Disappointment in the first start
After a million‑euro transfer from Ajax, Godts first got five minutes as a substitute before coach Luis Enrique put him in the starting lineup on Saturday evening. After just over an hour he was replaced by Georgian Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who scored the equaliser (2‑1) two minutes later.
Les Parisien noted that Godts made no impression, could not beat any opponent and made sloppy choices. The newspaper gave him a rating of three and accused him of sixteen ‘ball losses’ during the match.
Reactions from the press and fans
L’Équipe praised Godts’ appearance – blond hair and a baby‑like smile – but warned that there is still a step to take at PSG. Maxi Foot was more critical and gave the winger a 5.5, pointing to weak dribbles and a missed shooting opportunity.

Fansites Culture PSG and Paris Fans also gave Godts failing grades (5 and 4). The expectation is that on Wednesday evening, when PSG takes on the Champions‑League duel against Manchester City, he will start again from the bench.
In addition to the sporting criticism, the match was overshadowed by a protest from PSG fans, who displayed a banner in support of the French schoolchildren protests. The banner was removed, after which a portion of the supporters temporarily left the stadium.
