Míchel hails fan energy at Johan Cruijff Arena after Burnley win

Ajax coach Míchel took to X after the team's friendly victory over Burnley to thank the supporters at the Johan Cruijff Arena, saying their backing will be crucial for the season ahead. He highlighted the warmth and connection he felt while watching from the bench, framing the win as a stepping stone rather than an endpoint.

The trainer’s message contrasted the on‑field success with the off‑field atmosphere, noting that the first match in their own stadium was as much about the energy from the tribunes as the play of his squad. He stressed that the supporters’ presence added a vital dimension that cannot be measured by the score alone.

In his post, Míchel reflected on the significance of the venue, recalling that this was Ajax’s inaugural game at the Johan Cruijff Arena. He pointed out that the atmosphere there would shape the team’s identity as they progress through the campaign.

"The warmth, support and connection with our fans feeling while we sit on the bench: that is the real beginning of what we want to build," Míchel wrote. "Today we made our first minutes in our own house, but above all we felt that energy from the stands. Something that will be crucial this season."

He also addressed the club’s developmental stage, acknowledging that work remains to be done. "There must still be hard work and details to refine, but this is the right way. Ready for more," he added, underscoring confidence in the chosen path.

Míchel’s statements make clear that the link between fan enthusiasm and team progress is central to his strategy. By emphasizing the role of the supporters, he signals that Ajax will continue to build on this foundation as the new season approaches.

The contrast between a single friendly victory and the broader ambition for the campaign reveals a focus on sustainable growth, with the supporters’ energy positioned as a cornerstone of Ajax’s future plans.
