Media say Niemcy's Dortmund eyes two strikers as Reguła's move stalls

At 06:15 on a misty Tuesday, a Wizz Air jet idled on the tarmac at Wrocław as Marcel Reguła, the Polaka forward, boarded for Dortmund, while Media in Niemcy whispered that Borussii Dortmund were ready to seal his exit from KGHM Zagłębie Lubin.

Burnley bid falls through

Only days earlier, Burnley FC of the English Championship had tabled an €8 million offer for the striker, a sum the club accepted and KGHM Zagłębie Lubin agreed to, yet Reguła refused to sign, leaving the Polaka’s move stalled.

The failed deal highlighted the player’s resolve to choose his next step, with the club confirming the offer but respecting the forward’s decision.

Dortmund prepares dual pursuit

Now Borussia Dortmund have entered the race, reaching an agreement with Zagłębiem Lubin on terms and receiving Reguła’s green light, putting the transfer on the final straight.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri reported that the German side’s number‑one target is Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri, quoting: “Borussia Dortmund is pushing to acquire Ethan Nwaneri from Arsenal. BVB is currently in talks to convince the Gunners to allow the English talent to leave. BVB believes the deal will go through. Nwaneri interested.”

Eleven Sports journalist Tomasz Urban added, “Nothing is strange. They are playing on two fronts, because time is short. If Nwaneri does not materialise, they will turn to Reguła, but everything must be prepared in advance. This is a very good moment to join BVB, having a profile like Marcel.”

Mateusz Borek noted that Reguła will fly to Dortmund on Tuesday morning, boarding a Wizz Air flight at 06:15 from Wrocław. He remarked that most young people start school on 1 September, and the Lubin youngster could begin a new chapter in Germany’s renowned football school, hoping nothing goes wrong at the last stage.

The German transfer window closes on Tuesday at 20:00, leaving little time for either pursuit to reach a conclusion.
