McTominay trains again at SSC Napoli after heart surgery

At the training ground of SSC Napoli, the 29‑year‑old Scottish Scott McTominay was seen again on the ball today, only a few hours after his return from the hospital in Manchester.

Heart surgery and quick return

The international had to undergo a minimally invasive ablation due to a heart rhythm disorder, in which tissue in the heart is scarred. The operation took place in Manchester and the subsequent tests showed that he is match‑fit.

SSC Napoli confirmed that McTominay has resumed team training, officially confirming his recovery.

Career and market value

McTominay has been at Napoli since the summer of 2024, after the club signed the right foot from Manchester United for €30.5 million.

The central midfielder helped Napoli win the Italian championship in 2025 and has so far made 82 appearances, scored 27 goals and provided 10 assists in all competitions.

His current market value is listed at €40 million.

At this year’s World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico, the Scottish national team was eliminated in the group stage, with McTominay also featuring.

The Transfermarkt entry lists, in addition to the usual categories, terms such as Transfers, Community, Gaming, Support, Premium, Service, Video, Latest, All, News, Bundesliga, Tests, After and Analysis, which reflect the wide range of information surrounding the player.

Thus the 29‑year‑old Scot is fully fit again and can take part in the regular training and match schedules of SSC Napoli in the coming weeks.
