Mbappe sidesteps surgery after knee blow in Nations League

Kylian Mbappe, the France striker for Real Madrid, left the UEFA Nations League match against Turkey after 54 minutes when he suffered a left‑knee injury, but medical checks have ruled out a serious tear, avoiding the need for surgery and a long‑term lay‑off.

Zidane said the player's condition was not good. Real Madrid's medical team later reported that the injury was an overstretch of the posterior capsule of the left knee. Both the club and the French Football Federation had initially feared surgery.

The diagnosis means Mbappe will miss between ten and twelve days of action. Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho indicated he may be omitted from the upcoming league clash with Villarreal on the 10th of the month.

Real Madrid then faces a Champions League tie against Roma on the 14th, followed by an El Clásico against Barcelona eleven days later.
