Mbappé's Swiss night sparks anger among Madrid supporters

Kylian Mbappé, injured in the knee on September 25 during the Turkey‑France match where he scored the only goal, was condemned by the popular tribunal for a night out in a nightclub and a few pedal strokes in Switzerland. Real Madrid lined him up against Villarreal, but he didn’t find the net, Diomandé opening the scoring (1‑0).

Madrid supporters reproach the 27‑year‑old striker for having displayed his private life on social media, believing he should have remained discreet or, at worst, shown himself in a full rehabilitation session. Some consider his nonchalance unacceptable as long as he continues to wear the white shirt.

Goal‑scorer statistics since his arrival

After his transfer from Paris in the summer of 2024, Mbappé became Real Madrid’s top scorer. He scored 44 goals in 59 matches across all competitions in his first season, then 42 goals in 44 games in 2025‑2026. Before October 10, he had found the net eight times in eight matches.

For the eighth round of La Liga at 9 pm, the coach declared Mbappé fit and started him against Villarreal. Despite his status as captain of the France team, he did not score, Real being content with Diomandé’s sole goal to win 1‑0.

At 27, Mbappé combines his role as French captain with an impressive goal‑scoring load in Madrid, which makes every off‑field gesture even more scrutinised by the media and fans.

While his performances on the pitch remain prolific, the controversy surrounding his nightlife continues to fuel the debate on the behaviour expected of football stars.
