Mbappe’s injury threatens Real Madrid’s September plans

Under the floodlights of the Ankara stadium, Kylian Mbappe curled a first‑half strike for France before collapsing in the 54th minute, a scene that will see the forward back at Real Madrid within days.

Real Madrid will not resume club training for the next two weeks because of the September international break, but supporters can still watch several of their stars representing their countries.

France supplies the most Madrid players

At the start of the break, France boasted the highest number of Real Madrid players, with new head coach Zinedine Zidane selecting Mbappe, Eduardo Camavinga and Ibrahima Konate for the opening UEFA Nations League fixtures.

Diario AS reported that Mbappe suffered a tendon injury to his left knee during the match against Turkiye, prompting his return to the Merengue camp for assessment.

Injury details and club concerns

Initial examinations in France confirmed a left‑knee tendon problem; the severity and recovery timeline remain unclear.

The incident unfolded when Mbappe received the ball on the edge of the area, scored France’s first goal of the Zidane era, then immediately began limping, showing clear pain on his face.

He briefly left the pitch for treatment, returned, limped again and ultimately asked to be substituted.

Real Madrid are understandably anxious, as the club faces a demanding spell ahead, needing to rediscover form before the El Clasico, scheduled for less than a month away.

The left knee has been a recurring issue for the Frenchman, having forced him to miss up to 12 matches last season.
