Mbappé’s debut goal for Zidane ends in knee‑injury withdrawal

On 25 May the French Football Federation confirmed that forward Kylian Mbappé of Real Madrid will withdraw from the national team after a knee‑tendon injury sustained in France’s 1‑0 Nations League win over Turkey, the first match for new coach Zinedine Zidane.

He netted the winner in the 54th minute after a pass from Bayern forward Mikaël Orlies, shooting low with his right foot.

Celebrating the goal, he twisted his right knee, returned briefly, then left at 59 minutes for PSG striker Dejire Doué.

The federation confirmed a knee‑tendon injury and Mbappé’s withdrawal, ruling him out of the remaining Nations League matches against Belgium on 28 May and Italy on 2 October.

Zidane told TF1 the player’s condition is not good, he must return to Real Madrid and France will not take any risk.
