Maxim De Cuyper Opens Red Court Pitch Ahead of World Cup

🇬🇧

The Belgium national team assembled in Tubeke on Saturday for the official start of their World Cup preparation. At the same time, 25‑year‑old Maxim De Cuyper opened a new football pitch in his hometown of Knokke‑Heist.

The facility, called Red Court, is a small‑scale pitch built on private land in Knokke‑Heist. De Cuyper inaugurated the site with a brief ceremony before joining the national squad.

De Cuyper is the left‑back of Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion. He left Club Brugge after contributing to their recent league title.

Speaking to the media, De Cuyper said the Club Brugge championship “did him good” and that he is already looking ahead to the World Cup. He added, “I don’t see Joaquin Seys as a competitor.”

De Cuyper will travel with the Red Devils to their training camp in Tubeke before the tournament begins. He expects the new pitch to serve as a personal training base during the preparation period.
