Mauricio Pochettino pledges help for Tottenham even in Championship

Mauricio Pochettino says he would still be ready to assist Tottenham, even if the club were to play in the Championship, after confirming his enthusiasm for a new United States deal and refusing to rule out a future England job.

US deal fuels optimism

Pochettino said the new US deal has revitalised his enthusiasm for the next phase of his career. The former World Cup coach for the United States highlighted the project's ambition. He added that the deal aligns with his desire to stay involved at the highest level.

He also confirmed that he has not dismissed the possibility of taking the England job in the future. The prospect of leading the national side remains on his radar, he explained. This openness comes despite his recent focus on the US role.

Tottenham remains a priority

According to Pochettino, Tottenham reached out over the summer and the call "stirred him". The Spurs invitation prompted him to consider a return to the club he loves. He said the conversation arrived at a time when he was evaluating his options.

"Yes, of course," Pochettino said. "Tottenham … it’s the only club that always I am open to help. In whatever division." He stressed that nothing, not even a drop to the Championship, would deter him.

Pochettino made clear that a possible relegation to the Championship would not change his commitment. He believes the club's identity transcends the league they play in. The former Spurs captain remains a key figure in his thoughts.

Before his US venture, the Argentine managed Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, gaining experience at top European clubs. Those roles, combined with his World Cup stint, have prepared him for a new chapter in English football's second tier. He feels ready to contribute wherever the opportunity arises.

His statements underline a broader trend of experienced managers keeping options open across continents. With clubs in the Championship and abroad vying for proven talent, the managerial market continues to be highly fluid.
