Mastantuono beats Messi and breaks the youth hat‑trick record

Mattia Mastantuono, the Argentinian on loan from Real Madrid, was the key figure in Fiorentina's 4‑2 victory over Venezia, scoring four goals, including a hat‑trick that allows him to break Lionel Messi's record as the youngest Argentinian to achieve it in one of the five major European leagues.

Match details

Venezia opened the scoring in the 22nd minute thanks to a goal by Adams. A minute later, Mastantuono equalised the match in the 29th minute and scored again in the 30th minute, putting Fiorentina 2‑1 up. The photograph of the moment, credited to Radoni and released by EFE Madrid, captured the striker's celebration.

Mateo Pellegrino extended the lead in the 66th minute, and Mastantuono completed his performance with goals in the 84th and 86th minutes, sealing the final 4‑2.

Record broken

The record he broke belonged to Lionel Messi, who with Barça scored his hat‑trick against Real Madrid at 19 years and 259 days. Mastantuono surpassed it by achieving the same feat at 19 years and 28 days, becoming the youngest Argentinian to score a hat‑trick in any of the five major European leagues.

Mastantuono arrived on loan at Fiorentina this summer from Real Madrid, but at the start of the season he did not show his best form. His performance against Venezia allowed him to redeem himself in a big way and demonstrate the value of the loan.

The win gave Fiorentina the boost it needed after three matches without a win, and the victory strengthens the team's morale in the fight for European places.

An Instagram post shared by ACF Fiorentina showed Mastantuono's four goals and celebrated the new record. The fact is that the feat has generated great excitement among the club's supporters.
