Marseille’s Genesio offered resignation as transfer void empties squad

In the RTL studio on Saturday, broadcaster Dave Appadoo launched a blistering attack on Olympique de Marseille’s head coach, Bruno Genesio, as the French Ligue 1 side teeters on the brink of a possible resignation. He warned that the coach’s repeated complaints about the club’s direction were doing little to calm a squad stripped of new signings.

Since the window closed, Genesio has repeatedly voiced criticism of the club’s hierarchy, sparking irritation among Ligue 1 followers. On RTL, Dave Appadoo said, “J’en ai un peu ras le béret des sorties de Bruno Genesio. Ce discours, pour moi, était audible pendant la période de mercato.” He added that the transfer window had been closed for more than three weeks and that Genesio’s comments would change nothing.

Appadoo continued, “Cette façon de dire ‘il faut que quelqu’un vienne au‑dessus de moi (…) pour expliquer la situation’, tout en précisant ‘la situation que vous connaissez très bien’.” He concluded that he felt “je commence à le prendre mal” and that the coach was “en train de me gonfler”.

Loïc Tanzi, a colleague of Genesio, remarked that the coach is free to resign if he dislikes the direction of the club. “Il est libre de ses mouvements. S’il veut démissionner, il peut démissionner demain,” he said.

OM’s precarious position

Olympique de Marseille sit 17th in Ligue 1, having lost four matches in a row. They are three points behind the ninth‑placed side, with only a slim margin separating them from safety. The team travel to Troyes on 11 October at 20:45 for the sixth round of Ligue 1.
