Marocchi crowns Inter favorite for Scudetto while Como surprises

Former midfielder Giancarlo Marocchi told La Stampa that Inter remain the leading contender for the Serie A Scudetto, despite a surprising surge from Cesc Fabregas‑led Como, and he outlined his personal title grid ahead in the Ferragosto break.

Giancarlo Marocchi, a former midfielder and current Sky pundit, said Inter remain the main candidate for the Serie A Scudetto. He also highlighted the unexpected rise of Cesc Fabregas’s Como.

When asked if Inter is the team to beat, Marocchi answered: “Yes. They won after changing the coach and seemed at the end of a cycle, Chivu was the best. Now they no longer face those difficulties.”

Marocchi's title grid

Marocchi also shared his personal title grid for the upcoming season. He placed Inter at the top, followed by a high ranking for Como because of Fabregas’s effective recruitment. He listed Milan, Juventus, Roma and Napoli in the second tier.

He placed Bologna, Fiorentina and Atalanta in the third tier of his predictions. Marocchi admitted that making forecasts at Ferragosto is impossible, but he still felt confident about his ordering.

The interview appeared on Google Discover among the “Fonti preferite” and was published by La Stampa with an A− A+ rating. The piece repeatedly referred to L'Inter as the favorite side.

Marocchi’s analysis underscores the belief that the Romanian coach Cristian Chivu has given continuity to a squad that seemed to need a new impulse. He also noted that the league’s dynamics could shift as the season progresses.
