Maresca ignores City scandal, focuses on Liverpool duel

At Manchester City's training base, Enzo Maresca watches undisturbed while the media report on the unrest surrounding the club. “Personally I’m very calm, to be honest,” he says, emphasizing that the situation attracts little to him.

The coach responded to the case in which Manchester City was found guilty of serious financial breaches. He confirms his calm demeanor and explains that he does not let himself be distracted by the accusations.

“The club has been very clear. We have full confidence in the club. We understand the commotion, but for us the focus lies on what we can actually influence, and that is only the football itself,” Maresca explains during the press moment.

Upcoming matches keep focus on football

Next Sunday City travels to Anfield to take on Liverpool, and a few days later Manchester hosts Paris Saint‑Germain. Maresca emphasizes that the players are fully focused on the upcoming matches.

“The players are fully focused on that. They know we can control the football side and they are not at all worried about other matters,” he adds, thereby confirming the priority on the pitch.

According to Maresca, the atmosphere within the squad is still excellent. “The feeling is fantastic, to be honest. The players are eager for the next two games. But they are especially excited because we are currently at the top of the table,” the coach says.

Despite the financial controversy, Manchester City continues to focus entirely on the game, an attitude that, according to Maresca, forms the foundation for the upcoming challenges in both the Premier League and European fixtures.
