Maren's six goals spark Roma's four‑win Serie A start in twelve years

Under the bright lights of the Stadio Olimpico, Roma broke the deadlock in the 40th minute as Netherlands forward Daniel Maren slipped past Torino's defence after a through ball from Argentina striker Paulo Dybala. The Dutchman’s finish set the tone for a 2‑0 victory that secured the club’s fourth consecutive Serie A win.

Four wins end a twelve‑year drought

Italy midfielder Nicolo Pizzilli doubled the lead in added time of the second half with a powerful right‑footed strike, sealing the 2‑0 result. The win came on Serie A matchday four, played on the 14th local time.

The triumph marks Roma’s first four‑match winning start in Serie A since the 2014‑15 season, ending a twelve‑year wait for such a run. That earlier campaign had seen the side finish with five straight victories.

Earlier in the month, Roma’s Champions League encounter with Feyenoord ended in a 1‑1 draw, meaning the club remains unbeaten in its domestic league while still seeking a win in Europe.

Defensively, the side has been solid, conceding only one goal across the four league games. Offensively, Roma have produced twelve goals, with Maren contributing six of them, placing him at the top of the Serie A scoring chart.

Maren joins club legends in scoring record

Opta data reveal that only two Roma players have ever scored six or more goals in their first four Serie A matches. The first was Argentina forward Pedro Manfredini, who netted seven goals in the opening three games of the 1960‑61 season.

The second was Italy forward Francesco Totti, the club’s “Prince”, who had six goals by the end of the fourth match in the 2002‑03 season. Maren’s six‑goal haul now makes him the third player to achieve this rare feat.

Roma’s next challenge arrives on the 19th, when they host Inter at the Stadio Olimpico. The clash pits two teams that have both enjoyed four‑match winning starts, and will test whether Roma’s blend of tight defence and Maren’s explosive attack can overcome the defending champions.
