Maren’s six‑goal burst secures Serie A monthly MVP
In the bustling Stadio Olimpico, Dutch forward Donny Maren celebrated a new accolade as he was named Serie A’s August‑September Player of the Month. The 27‑year‑old has netted six times in his first five league games for Roma.
Maren arrived on loan from Aston Villa in January, with an obligation to buy attached. In just half a season he has featured in 20 official matches, scoring 15 goals and providing three assists. His tally places him second in the league’s scoring chart and has been pivotal in Roma securing a Champions League berth.
Roma’s chief executive Luigi De Cielvo praised the “astonishing numbers” Maren has delivered since his January arrival, adding that the striker’s five‑game, six‑goal run will ignite the race for the golden boot.
The award, presented by EA SPORTS FC, saw Maren outrank rivals such as Davide Frattesi, Giorgio Chiellini, Daniel Maldini, Lautaro Martínez and Adrian Rabiot. The recognition underscores his status as a leading figure in the club’s attacking thrust.
