Marchisio: I would have given up a higher salary to stay at Juve

Claudio Marchisio, former Juventus midfielder, was interviewed in the “Se Fossi Tu'” episode on the Corriere dello Sport YouTube channel to comment on the departure of Dusan Vlahovic, released due to lack of renewal, who moves to Turkey to wear the Besiktas shirt under the guidance of Vincenzo Italiano and will play in the Europa League.

Marchisio said that, if he had been in Vlahovic's place, he would have handled it differently, trying in every way to improve the opportunity offered by Juventus, including the number 9 shirt and a starting spot. He then answered decisively to the question whether he would have given up a higher salary to stay at Juve: “Absolutely.”

In his intervention, Marchisio recalled that Vlahovic, with the number 9 shirt, was Juventus’s striker and that the starting spot should have been valued, otherwise he would have preferred a different path.

Vlahovic’s transfer to Turkey

Dusan Vlahovic was released by Juventus for the lack of a renewal and has signed for Besiktas, a Turkish club led by Vincenzo Italiano. Wearing the Besiktas shirt, the centre‑forward will take part in the Europa League, a competition in which Juventus is still present.

It did not happen that way, but to end up at another club, Besiktas, which does not play in the Champions but participates in the Europa League, Vlahovic chose a different route from the one hoped for by Marchisio.

According to the 40‑year‑old Turinese, Vlahovic’s decision did not receive his support, but the words of those who have made Juventus’s history weigh more than other opinions. For Marchisio, the management of Vlahovic’s future should have been different from the start.
