Marcelo Brozovic chooses Qatar, signs for €10 million with Al Sadd

Marcelo Brozovic will not return to Italy: the Croatian midfielder has signed in recent hours a one‑season contract with Al Sadd, a Qatari club, which will guarantee him a salary of €10 million for the upcoming campaign.

Details of the new deal

The deal includes a unilateral option for the club, which could extend the contract by an additional year. The announced figure is €10 million, without any additional declared bonuses. The agreement has been confirmed by sources close to the transfer.

Brozovic's initial idea was to return to Italy, but the prospect of a very high wage prevailed, after having earned €100 million in three seasons in Saudi Arabia. The player had expressed a desire for a top‑level club, but the financial value proved decisive.

Before the transfer was finalised, Al Ittihad had put forward a proposal ranging between €7 million and €8 million. Brozovic rejected that offer, preferring to change leagues and accept the Qatari proposal.

Negotiations with Italian clubs had progressed: Juventus, Inter and Milan had shown interest, but the two‑year offer of €2.5 million per year was rejected because it was below the player's demands. According to rumors, his asking price would be around €6 million.

Real Madrid had evaluated Brozovic to strengthen the defensive midfield, but recent injury problems caused the Spanish clubs to withdraw their interest. The deal was therefore cancelled, leaving the move to Qatar open.

Fabrizio Romano reported that the contract with Al Sadd will be for one season, with an option for a second year. After the conclusion of his spell with Al Nassr, Brozovic is preparing for a new adventure in the Qatari league.
