On 29 July, the municipal council of Naples approved the restyling project for Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, a proposal put forward by Sindaco Gaetano Manfredi and Infrastructure Assessor Edoardo Cosenza. The decision marked the first formal endorsement of the extensive renovation scheme.

The plan comprises 500 detailed elaborati and was forwarded to the Italian Football Federation and UEFA on 31 July for review. This submission opened the door for the stadium to be evaluated as a potential Euro 2032 venue.

With the submission, the Maradona stadium entered the list of venues being considered to host matches at Euro 2032. Its inclusion reflects the project's ambition to meet international standards.

Funding for the works will be provided by the Campania region, supplemented by co‑financing from the Naples municipality. The financial partnership ensures the project's viability without overburdening a single entity.

The construction schedule is designed so that football activities can continue uninterrupted throughout every phase of the renovation. This approach guarantees that the stadium remains fully usable for matches at all times.
