Mancini excludes nine Azzurri, with Romano and Inacio, recalls Barella
Coach Roberto Mancini has announced the squad for the third Nations League fixture against France, omitting nine players, including Marco Romano and Gabriel Inacio, while recalling Niccolò Barella and defender Gianluca Mancini ahead of the match.
Excluded and called-up
Mancini has excluded the following nine players from the 34-man squad: Ahanor, Cambiaghi, Coppola, Ghilardi, Inacio, Kouadio, Mandragora, Pessina and Romano. The decision was made ahead of the match against France, to manage resources in the final stage of the Nations League. The excluded players will not even take part in the morning training scheduled at Coverciano.
Returns to the squad
Among the called-up players, Niccolò Barella and defender Gianluca Mancini return to the first team, both available for tomorrow's clash. They are joined by Daniel Maldini, Zoma and Ricci, who had already taken part in the camp for the match against Turkey. The presence of these players strengthens Italy's attacking and defensive units.
Italy seeks advantage in the Nations League against Turkey
The third Nations League fixture will take place tomorrow, Friday 2 October, at 20:45, at the Stade de France. The home side is led by Zinedine Zidane, who has already won against Turkey and Belgium in his first stint as a coach. The national football department is closely monitoring the opponent's line-ups. On the morning of 1 October the called-up players will not train with the group, but in the afternoon they will take part in a session with the technical and performance staff. For the match against Turkey in Bologna, Mancini had fielded a lineup of ten players, including Barella, Coppola, Inacio, Kouadio, Daniel Maldini, Gianluca Mancini, Pessina, Ricci and Zoma.
