Manchester United Set Their Sights on Bundesliga Defender for Carrick
Manchester United have set their sights on Borussia Dortmund centre‑back Waldemar Anton this summer, according to a report by Fichajes. The Red Devils see this Bundesliga defender as a decent option for Michael Carrick, describing him as “This Bundesliga Defender Decent Option” to add depth and experience to their back line.
Fichajes reported that the club is actively pursuing a move to secure Anton’s services during the off‑season, indicating a clear intent to strengthen the defensive unit.
Anton’s impressive form in the Bundesliga was evident as he made 44 appearances for Borussia Dortmund last season, scoring three times and establishing himself as one of the most experienced centre‑backs in the league.
His contract at Signal Iduna Park runs until the summer of 2028, a factor that could make it difficult for Manchester United to acquire him on a cut‑price deal.
The German defender is a solid tackler who reads danger well, makes important interceptions, clears his lines when required and, standing at 1.89 m, provides a strong aerial presence.
While there are concerns about whether he can cope with the high intensity of the Premier League, United expect Anton to bring quality and depth, giving him a realistic chance to challenge for a regular starting spot at Old Trafford.
Consequently, Carrick should focus on completing the signing before the transfer window closes, as Anton could help the Red Devils compete across all fronts in the coming seasons.
