Manchester United's comeback eases Carrick pressure, says Fernandes

Man Utd's dramatic 3‑2 Champions League win over Roma eases the pressure on manager Michael Carrick and ends a nine‑game winless run.
The Red Devils trailed 2‑0 before Bruno Fernandes converted a 58th‑minute penalty to spark the second‑half revival.
United then scored two further goals to secure a 3‑2 victory, their first win in nine games.
Fernandes, 32, had been dropped to the bench after publicly criticising Michael Carrick's tactics following a 4‑1 loss at Como, but was restored for the Premier League defeat by Chelsea.
Fernandes' comments on the win
When asked if the result would save his job, United captain Fernandes told Amazon Prime, “We don’t need to save anyone’s job.”

He added that the club and the players needed the win and that they had worked hard together to escape the situation.
Fernandes said there had been much speculation and many lies about his relationship with the manager, but that they had cleared the air and that Carrick bench‑ed him because he was not performing, which he accepted as correct.
He stressed that the manager makes the decisions and that his belief in Michael Carrick, the staff and every player remains unchanged.
