Manchester City found guilty of 114 financial violations

A decision set to shake English football dominated the evening: the Premier League Independent Commission found Manchester City guilty of all 114 charges of financial violations, while in Turin Ginevra Elkann is ready to take the presidency of Juventus.

The Commission indicated that the violations cover the period 2009/10‑2017/18. It found the use of fictitious commercial contracts to inflate revenues, reduce costs and present falsified accounts, as well as breaches of cooperation obligations.

Manchester City, describing itself as “disappointed and surprised”, declared innocence and said the Commission’s opinion was afflicted by errors of law, principle and fact, announcing its intention to appeal. The sanction, still to be determined, could include league point deductions, revocation of titles or, in the worst case, expulsion from the Premier League.

Financial turbulence at Juventus

In Turin, Ginevra Elkann would be ready to become president of Juventus. The balance sheet shows the purchase of the J|Hotel for €23 million and a net debt of €331.1 million. Exor will support a capital increase of up to €250 million, with an immediate contribution of €60 million and covering any unsubscribed shares.

In the market, between 2025 and the first phase of the 2026/27 season Juventus made significant investments, while the sales generated lower figures.
