Manchester City face potential £50 million bill from Premier League

At a packed press conference on Tuesday, the Premier League revealed that an independent commission had concluded Manchester City artificially inflated its income by £900 million over nine years, meaning the club may owe tens of millions in legal costs.

The panel found the club guilty of breaking financial rules, stating it had arranged “sham” contracts to boost revenues and meet spending regulations.

Manchester City denied any wrongdoing, branding the findings a ‘conspiracy theory’ and insisting the accusations were unfounded.

Having been found guilty of virtually all charges, the club now faces a substantial compensation bill to the Premier League for the legal expenses incurred.
