Manchester City eye versatile Senegal striker amid tough Everton talks

Mercato news confirms Manchester City are moving in the final days of the window to pursue Senegal international Illiman Ndiaye. The club, impressed by the striker’s versatility and striking ability, see him as a potential boost for the Citizens’ attack, despite complex talks with Everton.

Enzo Maresca would view Ndiaye as a significant reinforcement for the Citizens. Maresca highlighted the Senegalese forward’s versatility and striking qualities as key reasons for interest.

Negotiations are reported to be particularly complex with the direction of the Toffees. Everton rely heavily on the striker, who joined from Marseille in 2024 and is contracted until 2029.

Negotiations and price tag

Everton are asking for a sum close to £80 million, equivalent to more than €90 million, to permit a transfer. The club has made clear that this figure must be met before they will open the door to a deal.

Other English clubs are also monitoring the situation, creating competition for the player. The English champion is currently assessing whether to submit a concrete offer.

The final decision by the Manchester directors could hinge on certain squad departures before the window closes. The transfer window is set to close imminently, adding pressure to the negotiations.
