Man United under pressure, Carrick demands an immediate response
Despite four consecutive winless matches in the Premier League, Manchester United settled for a 1-1 draw against Tottenham on Saturday, even though they had a numerical advantage. Coach Michael Carrick said he refused to succumb to worry and was expecting a quick reaction from his players.
The English manager remains convinced that Man United has the resources needed to turn the tide. He highlighted that, despite the numerical superiority in the match against Tottenham, the Red Devils failed to capitalise.
« I'm not satisfied with the number of points we've collected so far, that's for sure. I'm not hiding it, we can't deny it. », Carrick admitted at the press conference. He indicated that a few small details could have changed the result.
Demand for a quick reaction
He expects an immediate reaction from his players to get out of the poor run. According to him, the bar needs to be raised quickly in order to start accumulating more points.
Call for pragmatism and determination
He outlined the areas for improvement. « We must raise the bar, in a positive direction, fairly quickly, that's quite obvious. We need to show a bit more common sense at certain moments, a bit more determination and a bit more strength to see certain actions through. »
Carrick reminds that, in his view, the Red Devils have a squad capable of quickly regaining their level of excellence. He believes that the quality of the group should not be called into question despite the negative run.
Despite the poor spell, Carrick maintains his confidence in the group. He believes the Red Devils remain a very good team capable of finding their best level again.
He concluded by reaffirming his belief. « This does not change my conviction or my confidence in the players. We are a very good team and we are capable of being a very good team, but it is clear that we need to start collecting more points, there's no doubt about that. »
