Man United's disastrous PL start sparks Alan Shearer's fury

Manchester United's 2-0 defeat to promoted Hull City in their Premier League opening match prompted former England striker Alan Shearer to launch a scathing critique, calling the performance catastrophic across the pitch and raising questions about the team's readiness.

Hull City stun United in PL opener

Hull City, newly promoted to the Premier League, secured a 2-0 victory over Manchester United, handing the Red Devils a disastrous start to their campaign. The result left United surprised and already in doubt about their season prospects.

Alan Shearer slams United's performance

Alan Shearer, the former England striker now working as a BBC consultant, described the display as catastrophic. He said, “Manchester United was catastrophic in every department, especially in attack, they offered nothing.”

Shearer added, “At times I struggled to understand what they were trying to do. So much work to do, so many improvements needed. I know it was the first match of the season, but there was undoubtedly a lack of energy, they simply didn’t look fit.”

He concluded, “From the first minute, there was only one team that would win. We saw the energy, we saw the intensity. That’s worrying: when we play away against a promoted team, we know what to expect and you have to at least be at their level, which Manchester United did not do. They could not compete.”

United must rebound against Ipswich

Manchester United’s next fixture is at Old Trafford against Ipswich, where they are widely tipped as favorites. A swift turnaround will be essential to restore confidence before the next round of Premier League fixtures.
