Lustenau’s promotion celebration stalls as Ried salvage draw

Austria Lustenau and SV Ried finished level at 1‑1 in a hard‑fought Partie on Sonntag, 2 August 2026, at the Sun Minimeal Arena, SR Lechner. The Aufsteiger celebrated its Rückkehr to the Bundesliga with a Punktgewinn, while the Rieder side earned a valuable point away.

Dominik Weixelbraun gave the Vorarlberger side the Lustenauer Führung in the first half (Halbzeit) with a 26th‑minute strike, before Jussef Nasrawe equalised for the Ried‑Coach’s men at 34 minutes.

Ried‑Coach Mario Despotovic, who started five Neue in his XI, saw his side dominate early possession and create two promising header chances from Samuel Chukwudi (13') and Evan Aisowieren (15').

The Lustenauer first chance came when Danilo Soares delivered a perfect cross that Weixelbraun met with a clinical finish, confirming the early lead.

Ried answered swiftly; Nasrawe unleashed a flat shot from about 20 metres that found the net, restoring parity for the Rieder side.

Both teams threatened a halftime lead: Sacha Delaye missed a defensive error, his header falling short in the 44th minute, while goalkeeper Domenik Schierl saved a shot from Aisowieren just before the break.

In the 56th minute the Ried celebrated prematurely, but after a lengthy VAR check a goal by Jaedin Rhodes was ruled out for off‑side, leaving the Rieder unbeaten in their 17th Bundesliga duel with Lustenau.

The visitors pressed in stoppage time, with Pape Sissoko failing to connect on a cross in the 92nd minute, the biggest chance of the finish.

Line‑ups reflected the tactical battle: Lustenau fielded Schierl; Gmeiner, Maak (75' Chukwudi), Pertlwieser, Soares; Afrifa (75' Jastremski), Delaye (87' Grabher), Kacuri; Weixelbraun (87' Gashi), Benjamin (61' Verinac), Diarra. Ried started Leitner; Malicsek, Chukwudi, Steurer, Sorg (68' Rossdorfer); Schwab (86' Mayer), Maart (86' Rasner); Bajic, Nasrawe (68' Lund Jensen), Rhodes; Aisowieren (74' Sissoko).

Yellow cards were shown to Soares and Diarra for Lustenau, and to Rossdorfer and Lund Jensen for Ried. Auf the final whistle both sides shared the spoils, keeping the league table tightly contested.
