Lukaku pledges two-year stay at Fenerbahçe before Anderlecht return

Romelu Lukaku, the 33‑year‑old striker, gave a clear answer about his future after his debut for Fenerbahçe, saying he intends to serve the Turkish top club for the next two seasons before returning to Anderlecht.

Contract and future plans

He told that he signed a one‑year deal with an option for a second year, hoping to complete the full two‑year period before heading back home. The contract wording confirms his commitment to Fenerbahçe while keeping Anderlecht as his long‑term destination.

Lukaku noted that he will be 35 when the two‑year spell ends, but insists age will not hinder his performance. He added that he aims to keep playing until 2030, including for the Red Devils (de Rode Duivels) of Belgium.

The Belgian forward also said his thoughts are already on the European Championship (EK) and his role with Belgium (België). He wants to contribute to the national team’s upcoming tournament while fulfilling his club duties.

Lukaku reflected on his previous season at Napoli, describing it as the toughest year of his life due to injuries and the death of his father, Roger. Those challenges, he said, motivated his desire for a fresh start in Turkey.

He firmly rejected any suggestion that he is not fit, declaring himself 100 % match‑ready. Lukaku emphasized that rumors about his fitness are unfounded and that he is prepared to give his best on the pitch.
