Luis Díaz admits Bayern are not the side of last season

Colombian forward Luis Díaz has struggled to replicate his prolific 2025/26 campaign for Bayern Munich, managing just one goal in his first six appearances of the 2026/27 season after a previous tally of 26 goals and 23 assists in 51 games.

Díaz’s early‑season form

The 29‑year‑old, a former Liverpool forward, has only found the net once in those six outings, ending a rare goal drought for a player who has traditionally been a prolific scorer. He told Sky Sport Germany, “Never will I lack desire. The hunger for more will always be my mentality… Sempre disse isso: I will give 101 % for the team,” underscoring his determination.: Futebol europeu por quem entende Leia.

Bayern’s collective start has been uneven. The Bavarians have already featured in three Bundesliga fixtures, a German Cup tie, a Champions League match and the German Super Cup, recording a 5‑1 victory over Stuttgart, a 0‑0 draw with Schalke and a 2‑1 win against Elversberg. Their next league test comes against Union Berlin on Friday the 18th.

Bayern’s broader start to the campaign

Díaz added, “We are not exactly the Bayern we were last season. The heavy workload, including knockout games in the Champions League and the Cup, plus many of us playing at the World Cup, left us with little rest.”

He acknowledged that early‑season teething is normal, insisting the squad possesses quality players and the capacity to return to the style that brought them success. “We have everything we need to play even better than last season and achieve our objectives,” he affirmed.

The Colombian remains confident the next goal will arrive soon, believing it will come in the upcoming match. He stressed the importance of mental calm and continued work to break the scoring slump.
