Luca Toni warns against attacking Kolo Muani after two games
Former Fiorentina striker Luca Toni told the World Padel Tour media, including TMW, that you cannot criticise Kolo Muani after just two matchdays and that reforms for the Nazionale are no longer being discussed. He also noted that a club which has spent heavily must now organise its market.
“Una società che ha speso tanto, ha fatto un gran mercato. Speriamo si possano sistemare”, Toni said, referring to La Fiorentina’s recent activity. He recalled attending the club’s centenary celebration, which was “rovinata dalla vittoria del Frosinone per 3-0”. Despite the defeat, he praised the team’s effort on the opposite side of the pitch.
Fiorentina’s early season and league outlook
Toni judged Fiorentina’s start as “una squadra un po’ impaurita”, noting they have created several chances but failed to secure a draw. He stressed that the early fixtures are only the first games and that the market moves could help the side lift itself out of the lower zone. When asked about a coach’s plea, he recalled the line “Ti prego, esonerami. Questa squadra non si può allenare”, adding that a single word can change everything.
Roma, Inter, Kolo Muani and the Nazionale
Toni praised Roma’s recent form, describing them as “partita forte” and “ha fatto quadrato”. He highlighted the impact of Dybala when fit and the presence of a powerful centre‑forward that suits Gasperini’s system, while warning that playing every three days will test the squad’s stamina. Looking ahead, he expects a “test importante” against Inter in a week, calling Inter “la più forte” because of the depth of their squad beyond the starting eleven.
On the forward line, Toni favoured Woltemade as a team player but admitted he prefers the more attacking Kolo Muani. “Non puoi attaccarlo dopo due giornate, ci sta partire male, te lo devi coccolare”, he warned, urging patience for the French striker after a poor start.
Discussing the Nazionale, Toni said “non si parla più di riforme” and lamented the lack of progress. He mentioned a comment attributed to Fabio Grosso, saying “non lo so se Fabio può aver detto quelle parole”, but stressed that changing a single word could alter everything. Toni concluded that youth development must improve and that the coach Mancini has too few players to choose from.
