Long-term Serie A contract for Moroccan defender Halhal
Redouane Halhal, the 22‑year‑old Marokko international, has signed a contract with Venezia FC that runs until the summer of 2030, marking his move from KV Mechelen to the Italiaanse Serie A side. The deal was confirmed by club official Malinwa via official channels.
KV Mechelen has reached an agreement with Venezia FC for the definitive transfer of the Marrokaans centre‑back, as shared by Malinwa on the club’s official channels. The 22‑year‑old central defender will continue his career with the Italian promovendus.
Halhal arrived in the summer of 2024 transfervrij from Atlético Madrid. To give him every chance to develop, he was immediately loaned to sister club Helmond Sport, where he grew into a regular starter in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie.
At Helmond Sport, Halhal became an indispensable part of the defence and later returned to KV Mechelen, where he featured 34 times for the Geel‑Rood side. His strong performances earned him a debut for the Marokko national team in March of this year.
By signing a contract that runs until the summer of 2030, Halhal secures a long‑term future in Serie A with Venezia. The agreement was announced as a "prachtige stap" for the player.
The transfer illustrates how the collaboration between KV Mechelen and Helmond Sport can help young talent make the jump from the Keuken Kampioen Divisie to a World Cup appearance and then to Serie A. It also shows Serie clubs’ growing interest in promising players from the Belgian league.
In the broader market, Halhal’s move underscores the increasing flow of talent from the Belgian Pro League to Italy’s top flight, with clubs like Venezia actively scouting Marrokaans internationals and other emerging prospects.
