Transfers
Liverpool to sell Chiesa in winter for around €15 million
Liverpool is planning to sell winger Federico Chiesa in the upcoming winter. The club wants to profit by about €15 million from the Italian, whose contract runs until 2028. Under manager Andoni Iraola the attacker has not received any playing time so far.
No appearances under Andoni Iraola
Since his move two years ago to Anfield Road, Chiesa has never been able to fill the big shoes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané. This season he missed completely due to a muscle injury, so he made not a single appearance for the Reds.
The club also did not register him for the Champions League squad, while the expensive transfer of Bradley Barcola showed that the confidence is not with the Italian.
Financial reasons and possible targets
CalcioMercato reports that Liverpool wants to set a price of around €15 million for the sale, with the original purchase price being €3 million lower. The high annual salary of €7 million strains the club’s wage structure.
According to the report, SSC Napoli and Inter Milan are also on the player’s radar, expanding his options for a new club.
His contract runs until 2028, but in his 50 appearances for Liverpool he has only scored five goals and provided five assists, and he even featured once for the U21 side.
