Liverpool’s €175m price tag for Barcola sparks outrage

French striker Bradley Barcola’s move to Liverpool is edging closer as the Mersey club and PSG negotiate a revised €175 million fee, down from an initial €150 million, while Liverpool have already outlined a future contract in the ongoing for the former Lyon attacker.

Price drops after Liverpool setback

The transfer was originally set at €150 million for the former Lyonnais. PSG lowered that figure after Liverpool’s first attempt failed and because the French club’s interest in Ibrahim Mbaye grew.

According to journalist Romain Collet‑Gaudin, PSG is now prepared to let Barcola and Mbaye depart for a combined €175 million. The revised sum reflects both the reduced price for Barcola and the inclusion of Mbaye in the deal.

Liverpool have already reached an agreement on the broad outlines of Barcola’s future contract. The French attacker must still be patient while the Reds finalize the agreement with PSG.

Kevin Diaz slams Liverpool spending

Former Lusitanos Saint‑Maur striker Kevin Diaz reacted on the After Foot set, questioning Liverpool’s recruitment strategy after a particularly spendy summer 2025 market. “I don’t know if we realise what we are commenting on,” he said, noting the club’s purchases of Ekitike, Isak and Wirtz last year.

Diaz added, “That makes four players they bought for over €100 million. One got injured, another was catastrophic all season – Isak – and another never reached his Bayer Leverkusen level – Wirtz.”

He continued, “But they will put 140 or 120 potatoes for a guy who was unknown in U19 of OL three years ago, even if he has had a good season and is a French international.”

Diaz concluded with a pointed question: “Le football marche sur la tête ?” and warned that “Des joueurs qui sont à peine top 20 ou top 15 mondial dépassent 100 M€, c’est ridicule!”
