Liverpool leaves LFC star Mac Allister without a new contract

Alexis Mac Allister, a 27‑year‑old Argentinian international, has been a defining figure in the midfield of FC Liverpool over the past three years. Ahead of the press conference for the Champions League duel with Atlético Madrid, he confirmed that his contract will not be renewed and his time at Anfield Road is already drawing to a close, and he revealed exciting details.

Contract negotiations at a standstill

Mac Allister, an LFC star, has played 153 league matches since his move to Liverpool and has usually been in the starting eleven. At the start of the season he acted as a utility player, but on the second and third matchdays he started from the beginning again.

The player explained: “I received the news that the club had decided not to offer me a new contract, which of course makes me very, very sad.” He emphasized that the news had hit him deeply.

He also spoke about his teammates' contract extensions. “I see Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch extending their contracts, and that makes me happy because they deserve it. But at the same time it makes me sad because I didn’t get my extension,” he said.

Despite the situation, the 27‑year‑old emphasizes that he continues to give 100 percent for Liverpool every day. He reminds that his current contract runs until 2028 and adds: “There is still time. The fans don’t need to worry.”

There has been no direct exchange with the LFC officials; communication took place through his agent. “There was no direct conversation with me, it went through my agent. They were unable to renew my contract,” he explained.

Already in the summer a departure was on the agenda, and during the negotiations he mentioned a possible interest from Turkish side Galatasaray. He added that the situation is “truly sad” for him and the fans, because they won the Premier League together.
