At Anfield, Liverpool have entered the European race for Bundesliga talent, adding their name to a growing list of clubs watching 15‑year‑old Eintracht Frankfurt attacking midfielder Niko Ilicevic. The left‑footed playmaker has already recorded three goals and three assists in six youth games this season and remains contracted to Frankfurt until 2029, keeping him in Europe’s spotlight.

Impressive youth record

Ilicevic has already impressed playing above his age group, featuring in the UEFA Youth League where he has registered three goals and three assists in six appearances. His performances for Germany’s Under‑17 side have added to his reputation, including two goals in September, one of which came in a win over England.

Europe’s elite monitor him

His reputation has attracted a who’s‑who of Europe’s biggest clubs. Sources name Manchester City, Real Madrid, Barcelona, AC Milan and Inter as monitoring his development, while German sources link Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Tottenham and Newcastle to the chase.

Eintracht Frankfurt are keen to keep control of the teenager’s pathway, believing he can be introduced to senior football gradually. The Bundesliga side have secured his services until 2029, and the existing agreement is set to become a professional contract when he turns 16 later this month, at the end of October.

Liverpool join the chase

According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool have emerged as the latest club tracking Ilicevic, joining Bournemouth in the list of Premier League sides showing interest. Liverpool’s reputation for spotting elite youngsters early makes the 15‑year‑old an attractive long‑term investment for the Anfield club.

A move to England would not be straightforward at his age, and Frankfurt have made clear they have no intention of selling yet. The German club’s task is to convince the left‑footed midfielder that his best next step is to stay in the Bundesliga rather than head abroad.

With Europe’s leading clubs watching, Ilicevic’s situation highlights the intensifying competition for teenage talent across the continent. How Frankfurt manage his development could set a precedent for other Bundesliga academies dealing with early interest from the continent’s elite.
