Liverpool eyes French full‑back Kalulu as Juventus rushes to sign him

With the summer transfer window approaching, Liverpool are looking for a right‑back and have already placed French defender Pierre Kalulu of Juventus on their shortlist. The Reds, known as the Reds, tried to solve the right‑flank problem in their latest outing against Manchester City in the Premier League, fielding Ronald Araujo without success against the Citizens’ wingers. After the break Jeremie Frimpong came on, but the feeling shared in the Melwood offices is that a more stable reinforcement is needed.

Liverpool's motivations

Kalulu is valued for his versatility and his technical and athletic attributes, qualities that make him one of the highest‑profile names on Liverpool’s radar. He is not the only target: the club is also monitoring the Brazilian Wesley from Roma, but Kalulu remains at the centre of interest. The selection of Ronald Araujo against Manchester City, overseen by Enzo Maresca, highlighted the difficulty of containing the Citizens’ attackers, reinforcing the belief that the Reds need a more effective full‑back.

In the meantime Juventus are trying to lock Kalulu down with a significant contract. The defender has a contract that runs until 2029, with a €2.5 million per‑season clause, and has now established himself as an undisputed starter on the right flank under Luciano Spalletti. A possible Liverpool approach could affect the negotiations for a new deal, but Juventus still intend to make him a cornerstone of their future project.
