Liverpool eye Mbappe despite €250m price tag as Premier League giants
Liverpool have reportedly opened talks with the mother and agent of French striker Kylian Mbappe as they explore a possible 2027 move to Anfield, according to a report by Francois Gallardo. The Premier League club is said to be ready to meet a €200‑€250 million fee demanded by Real Madrid.
Why Liverpool target Mbappe
Mbappe’s earlier flirtation with the Merseyside side fuels Liverpool’s interest. The French forward revealed that, while at Monaco, he was close to joining Liverpool and that his mother, Fayza Lamari, favoured a move to Anfield. Jurgen Klopp has already spoken to the player about the project.
Gallardo told Defensa Central (h/t TEAMtalk) that several Premier League teams are interested in Kylian Mbappe, but the player’s priority is Liverpool. He added:
“Several Premier League teams are interested in Kylian Mbappe, but the player’s priority is Liverpool. They have already contacted Fayza Lamari in recent weeks. The player doesn’t feel loved or supported in the Real Madrid dressing room and that makes him uncomfortable.”
Implications for Liverpool and Real Madrid
The projected transfer fee of €200 million to €250 million would be a historic outlay for the Premier League giants, requiring Liverpool to marshal significant resources and potentially reshape their broader transfer strategy.
Real Madrid are unlikely to release one of their key attackers without a substantial return, meaning negotiations could be complex. The Spanish club is also linked with Michael Olise as a potential replacement, underscoring the strategic importance of any deal involving Mbappe.
If Liverpool can satisfy the price tag, the move would give the French international a fresh challenge and reunite him with a manager who admires his talent. For the Merseyside side, securing Mbappe would signal an aggressive push for silverware in the post‑Klopp era, while Real Madrid would need to balance ambition with financial prudence.
