Ligue 1 historic referee audio debut for LOSC-PSG clash
The Lille OSC (LOSC) and Paris Saint‑Germain (PSG) will kick off the second round of Ligue 1 on Friday evening, marking a historic first as the broadcast service Ligue 1+ will provide a full audio feed from the match referee.
Full‑sound referee system unveiled
The novelty consists of a total sound‑capture of the principal referee, known as the refcam, which will be equipped with a microphone for live commentary. La sonorisation totale of the referee will be delivered to Ligue 1+ subscribers.
Monsieur Eric Wattellier will serve as the main referee. He will be assisted by Nicolas Danos and Cyril Mugnier, and Guillaume Paradis will act as fourth official.
Video‑assistant team Alexandre Castro and Bruno Coué will operate the VAR. Bruno Coué will also handle the refcam equipment.
The refcam’s audio will be used during the pre‑match protocol and for captain‑to‑captain calls during the game, allowing Ligue 1+ to record and potentially broadcast those exchanges live or on delay. These recorded conversations may be retransmitted in real time or after the match.
This development expands the audio system introduced in the opening round, which already provides referee sound to justify VAR decisions. The added microphone will capture the referee’s voice for clearer communication.
