Liam Gallagher Claims Insider predicts fine, ban for Manchester City
Liam Gallagher has said an insider warned him that Man City will only face a fine and a transfer ban if the club loses its appeal against a Premier League guilty verdict. City were found guilty of 114 of the 115 charges relating to financial rules breaches between 2009 and 2018.
The sanctions remain unconfirmed, and the club has signalled its intention to appeal. Gallagher posted the comment on X, adding that the information came from “someone in a very, very high position”. He wrote that “all you desperate neurotic *****BUBBLES hush it up to ras MCFC LG x”.

Piers Morgan, an Arsenal supporter, quickly questioned Gallagher’s information, tweeting “That the same great source who told you Pep was staying?”. The remark alluded to Gallagher’s May claim that Pep Guardiola had told him he was not leaving, a story later contradicted by Guardiola’s actual departure and the appointment of Enzo Maresca.
The Premier League has not confirmed any sanction, but speculation has ranged from points deductions to relegation and even stripping of titles earned between 2009 and 2018. A BBC report noted little appetite within the league to remove those honours. City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has written to supporters urging confidence in “proving the club’s innocence”.
With the appeal still pending and no official comment from either the Premier League or Manchester City, the exact punishment remains uncertain. Gallagher’s claim therefore sits alongside other unverified insider have sparked debate across the football community.
