LFC seeks solution for Carvajal, Real legend moves into the game
Injury worries at Anfield Road force LFC, after the 2-0 win against Ipswich Town, to look for a solution, because regular Conor Bradley is out after a knee operation and Joe Gomez is also injured, and the Real legend Carvajal is being mentioned as a possible replacement.
Angel Martinez/GettyImages The options at right-back are currently running out for FC Liverpool. Coach Andoni Iraola is dealing with significant injury concerns: regular Conor Bradley is out for an extended period after a knee operation, and the versatile Joe Gomez is also unavailable due to injury. The only nominal right-back left at the moment is Jeremie Frimpong, the former Leverkusen player, who does set strong offensive accents but has not yet fully convinced defensively.
Possible solution: Carvajal
The solution to the personnel bottleneck could now be a free‑transfer veteran. The former Real player Dani Carvajal, a 34‑year‑old Real legend, had to leave the club in the summer of 2026 after 23 years because his contract expired. During his time with the Royals he amassed 450 competitive matches, including six Champions League titles, bringing enormous international experience.

FC Fulham as well, coached by former Real professional Álvaro Arbeloa, along with clubs from Saudi Arabia and the MLS are showing interest in the 34‑year‑old. Transfer expert David Ornstein did not rule such a scenario out. Former England international Joleon Lescott stoked the rumours, saying: “There is talk about Liverpool, Carvajal and a right‑back. So yes, I would say: Liverpool.”
So far no official negotiations have been confirmed, but given the current plight at Anfield Road the idea of signing the Real legend Carvajal appears plausible. The combination of injury worries and the lack of options forces LFC to consider unconventional solutions.
