Levante picks up a point in a crazy end to the Liga video

Sevilla FC saw its lead disappear in stoppage time on Monday evening, giving Levante a draw in a La Liga match (VIDEO) that turned chaotic. The Andalusians were leading 1‑2 before the 90th minute, then 2‑3, before conceding two more goals and losing the match 3‑3.

First half dominated by Sevilla

Sevilla opened the scoring as early as the 13th minute thanks to Scottish striker Robbie Ure, who put the ball in the back of the net (0‑1). Portuguese Felix Correia doubled the lead in the 54th minute (0‑2), leaving the Andalusian club comfortably at the top of the La Liga table.

Levante responded quickly, cutting the deficit in the 57th minute thanks to Isaac Romero, who found the net (1‑2). This goal revived the suspense and set the stage for the decisive minutes.

Stoppage time and controversy

In stoppage time, Isaac Romero found the back of the net again in the 90+2 minute, equalising the score (2‑2). Three minutes later, he scored the winning goal for Sevilla (2‑3, 90+5). However, the referee brandished a red card to Romero for a provocative celebration: he had put his finger to his mouth to ask the crowd to be quiet, a gesture deemed unacceptable after a warning four minutes earlier.

Sent off, Romero will miss Sevilla's next match against Real Madrid. Levante took advantage of the situation by scoring the third goal in the 90+10 minute, thanks to 18‑year‑old Austrian Ifeanyi Ndukwe, thus sealing the final draw (3‑3).

After the match, several Sevilla players expressed their frustration, stating that “the main issue is not the equaliser but the sending‑off of Isaac Romero for a celebration… He did nothing wrong.” Coach Luis Garcia, for his part, said his player deserved the dismissal, while wondering how the referee would have reacted to a player from a big team.

Red Devil Lucas Stassin remained out with a muscle injury and did not take part in the match. 19‑year‑old Yanis Musuayi started but was substituted in the 56th minute after Sevilla’s second goal.

In the La Liga standings, Sevilla sit in 5th place with 14 points, while Levante are 17th with 6 points, just above the danger zone.
