Lens’ Abdallah Sima faces months out as November looms
Yannick Cahuzac has confirmed that Lens’ Abdallah Sima (25) returned from the international break with a thigh injury and will be unavailable until the end of November. The forward’s absence will be a blow to the side as they navigate a busy schedule.
Sima sustained the injury while representing Senegal during the break, a fact confirmed by Cahuzac during a press conference on Wednesday. The thigh problem was diagnosed as serious enough to keep him out beyond the next international window.
He had started the campaign strongly for Lens, becoming a key figure under Dino Toppmoller. However, Toppmoller was replaced by Cahuzac just before the international break, meaning Sima’s progress was overseen by the new boss.
Cahuzac indicated Sima is not expected back until after the next international break, leaving Lens to cope with Ligue 1 and UEFA Champions League commitments without their striker. The timing is particularly untimely given the congested fixture list.
Positive news for Les Sang et Or
There is some optimism as midfielder Yacine Titraoui is expected to return to the squad, and right‑back Saud Abdulhamid could be available on Friday for the clash with Olympique Lyonnais.
With Sima sidelined until after November, Lens will rely on other attacking options as they aim to maintain momentum in both domestic and European competitions.
