Leipzig want to offload Bakayoko despite €20 million price tag

RB Leipzig has made it clear that Johan Bakayoko is no longer part of their plans, reports Sport. The Belgian striker has now dropped to fourth place in the pecking order. Bakayoko was transferred from PSV to Leipzig in the summer of 2025 for €18 million.
He signed a contract until mid‑2030. In his first season at Leipzig he struggled heavily with injury problems.
Limited playing time and declining position
He featured only 22 times for the club. He scored three times.
This season he played only 144 minutes. He remains in fourth place in the ranking. Brajan Gruda (22), Tidiam Gomis (20) and Andrija Maksimovic (19) have already passed him.
Even with Leipzig's double programme, Bakayoko gets barely any playing time. In early October he was disciplinarily suspended for arriving late to the team meeting. Since that suspension he has not been on the bench.
The club wants to sell him in January. Bakayoko himself is open to a departure from East Germany. Transfermarkt still values him at €20 million.
