Leeds winger Noah Okafor QUITS Switzerland after explosive bust‑up
Noah Okafor, the 26‑year‑old Leeds United winger, announced on 10 September 2026 via Instagram that he will no longer play for Switzerland, citing an irreparable breakdown with manager Murat Yakin.
World Cup involvement and limited minutes
Okafor was selected for the Swiss World Cup squad but featured only once, as a late substitute in the round‑of‑32 victory over Algeria.
His call‑up followed a prolific spell at Leeds, where he scored four goals in his final four league games of the season.
In March, after a 16‑month absence from the national set‑up, he met Yakin in England to clear the air, a meeting that temporarily restored their relationship.
In his Instagram statement, Okafor stressed that the decision had nothing to do with playing time, but stemmed from a loss of mutual respect and trust with the Swiss coach.
The Swiss Football Association confirmed the news, saying Okafor personally informed them on the day of his announcement and that they wish him success with his club.
