Leeds United player wants to leave – what’s best for Farke?

Lucas Perri, the 28‑year‑old Brazilian stopper at Leeds United, has signalled he wants to leave, with Serie A side Torino topping his wish list. The decision forces manager Javi Farke to consider what is best for the club as the season draws to a close.

Italian reporter Nicolo Schira broke the story, confirming Perri’s preference for a move to Torino. Tuttosport later echoed the report, placing Torino at the summit of Leeds’ transfer targets.

Two Brazilian clubs and a Turkish Super Lig outfit have also sniffed around the goalkeeper. Nevertheless, Torino stays firmly in pole position to get the deal over the line.

Leeds United finished the campaign in 14th place, conceding 56 goals. Perri recorded 16 starts, three clean sheets, 38 saves and a 60.3 % save percentage, conceding 1.81 goals per 90 minutes. His most recent highlight was a penalty save from Jarrod Bowen during the FA Cup quarter‑final on 5 April 2026.

The club have already identified Manchester City’s 23‑year‑old James Trafford as the primary replacement. Reports suggest a £10‑15 million fee could secure the young goalkeeper.

Trafford brings raw potential, notable height and calm footwork. He has already shown he can handle senior football, though convincing City to part with him will require work.

For fans in West Yorkshire, the prospect of a reshuffle is already being felt. Leeds must balance the risk of disrupting a backline already in pre‑season with the need to avoid retaining an unmotivated keeper. Any decision on Perri’s exit will hinge on confirming Trafford’s arrival.

The contrast between Perri’s desire to depart and the club’s pursuit of a younger alternative highlights the strategic dilemma facing Farke as the new season approaches.
