Le Diable Rouge charms supporters as soon as it arrives in Newcastle

On Saturday, the Belgian Matias Fernandez-Pardo made his Premier League debut with Newcastle United against AFC Bournemouth, coming on in the 63rd minute while the Magpies were trailing 1-2. Supporters quickly praised his energy and speed, while the club had spent €60 million this summer to sign him.

Under the management of Matthias Jaissle, the Belgian left the bench in the 63rd minute, replacing Joe Willock, as Newcastle United were down 1-2 against AFC Bournemouth. His presence was intended to revive the game with his speed and drive. The match, played in England, gave a first impression of the Red Devil.

Match Progress

Bournemouth opened the scoring in the ninth minute, before an own goal by Malick Thiaw in the 35th minute that made it 0-2. Harvey Barnes reduced the gap for the Magpies in the 37th minute, before Jacob Ramsey equalised in the 88th minute, sealing a 2-2 draw.

Fernandez-Pardo arrived this summer from LOSC for €60 million, nearly double his market value, which created high expectations among supporters. Social media was filled with positive comments, such as “Fernandez-Pardo will do great things in this league”, “He’s a very good player” and “He was excellent”.

On the pitch, the young winger immediately offered direct actions, creating danger with his drive and speed, which is what fans appreciated most. His ability to break through English defences was highlighted as a major asset for the Magpies.

The draw allowed Newcastle United to temporarily climb to sixth place in the table with five points, while Bournemouth, with two points after three games, sits in fourteenth place. Despite Fernandez-Pardo’s good performance, the match was not enough to reverse the trend.

The Magpies are set to face Millwall in the League Cup before traveling to Leeds on the next Premier League round, while Bournemouth will meet Lincoln in the Cup and then Brentford at home in the league.
