Lavia shines, Ngoy five stars, De Bruyne far from Rome

The Red Devils lost 0‑1 at home to France, but the football match provided individual sparks. Roméo Lavia impressed from his debut, while Paul Ngoy delivered a five‑star performance. Kevin De Bruyne, however, did not regain the form seen in Rome.

First half: Lavia and Ngoy in the spotlight

Yves Taildeman, Anderlecht and Red Devils specialist, described Lavia as dazzling from the first half, according to the Sports service. The young midfielder delivered a decisive pass that created Belgium's first big chance. His play has already recalled the Brussels club's ability to develop talent.

Paul Ngoy dominated the midfield, delivering a five‑star match. He recovered numerous balls and launched quick attacks, putting the French defence under pressure. His influence was highlighted as one of the match's strengths.

Kevin De Bruyne, however the author of a memorable performance in Rome, could not replicate that level. Bruyne missed a back pass that could have released Roméo Lavia, and did not exploit Godts' distribution. His impact was judged well below expectations.

Second half: difficulties and conclusion

Mickaël Moreira struggled to impose himself, finding it hard to keep the ball under pressure. For his part, Charles De Ketelaere reminded why he is not regarded as a prolific scorer, finding no clear chances. Their contribution was deemed insufficient against the French defence.

Goalkeeper Thomas Lammens made several saves, including a spectacular line‑side rescue after Olise's goal. Despite a good grip on the crossbar, he was criticised for not having pushed the shot far enough, as against Spain. Olise's goal sealed the defeat.

Mats Vanaken provided balance in midfield, creating a major chance but failing to convert it. Despite the loss, he validated his second tactical review, showing that the Belgian strategy held up. The Red Devils showed danger, even if the result was negative.

After the final whistle, the players described the atmosphere as exceptional, but expressed their disappointment, believing that all chances had been created. The Red Devils' reactions highlighted the feeling of having missed the match.
