LASK target ten‑point gap over Sturm Graz in sixth‑round clash
LASK host Sturm Graz at home (Haus) on Sunday 17:00 (Uhr) in the match dubbed the Schlager. A win would give LASK a Sieg, extend their Vorsprung over the Grazer side to ten points (Punkte) and provide the first real Kraftprobe of the young Bundesliga season (Bundesliga‑Saison), the football champion (Fußball‑Meister) LASK.
Ten‑point gap at stake
LASK arrive after five straight victories, having beaten GAK, Austria Wien, SV Ried, WAC and Altach. Their unbeaten Serie now stands at thirteen games – eleven wins and two draws – the longest stretch since 1980 and 2018‑19, and Kühbauer vowed to keep it alive for his LASKler.
Sturm Graz sit as the vice‑team (Vize) with eight points from five games but suffered a 1‑3 loss at Rapid. Coach Fabio Ingolitsch called the clash a hit and promised to go very cheeky, seeing it as a huge chance for the Grazer side.
The sixth round (Runde) also features a duel between WSG Tirol and Hartberg, both teams chasing a fourth consecutive league win. Bottom club Austria Wien (Ligaschlusslicht) will try to end its winless streak (Unserie) against Austria Lustenau at 14:30, each side eyeing a crucial points gain (Punktezuwachs).
WSG sit on seven points, one ahead of Hartberg’s six, and both have moved into the league’s upper half. A win would lift the Wattens to ten points after six rounds – a new club record – and Hartberg may debut loan striker Andrija Radulovic.
WSG have added Moritz Wels ahead of the transfer deadline, though coach Philipp Semlic warned that performance does not automatically improve. The club still operates with the smallest budget and no permanent home ground, making the task a brutal bone‑job.
Austria Wien, the Ligaschlusslicht, have recorded four defeats in five rounds and scored only three goals, failing to find the net at home against LASK (0‑2) and WSG Tirol (0‑1). Coach Stephan Helm insists the team must raise its points tally to restart the season properly.
