LASK dominate Bruno Gala as Horvath and Kühbauer collect top honours
In a glittering ceremony in Linz, LASK celebrated a season that saw the club clinch the league title and cup – the coveted Double – while its stars collected individual accolades. The Bruno Gala, named after Austrian legend Bruno Pezzey, recognised the achievements of players, coaches and the club itself.
Individual awards shine
Thirty‑year‑old Sascha Horvath, who helped LASK secure the Double in spring, was named Player of the Season, following Otar Kiteishvili’s previous triumph. On Sonntag he earned a call‑up to the ÖFB Nations League squad, underscoring his rising profile.
Coach Didi Kühbauer received the Trainer of the Season award, while goalkeeper Lukas Jungwirth was honoured as the club’s best keeper. Sarah Mattner‑Trembleau, who moved from SKN St. Pölten to Bayern in the summer, was voted Player of the Season on the women’s side.
Bruno’s legacy and voting format
The award bears the name of Bruno Pezzey, the 1994‑deceased Star and one of the most celebrated defenders in football Geschichte. Uniquely, winners are chosen not by a jury but by votes from active players, giving the Bruno a special peer‑recognition status.
Franz Pichler, founder and managing director of spusu, praised the event, saying, “The Bruno Gala stands for everything football represents – passion, teamwork and outstanding performances. It was once again a sensational evening.”
